In the 1970's, President Nixon gave moon rocks from the Apollo mission to all the nations of the world and to all the states in the USA. 270 moon rocks were given out. Each country and state received two plaques, one from the first moon landing and one from the last moon landing.

These "goodwill gifts" were given to celebrate an extraordinary feat of all mankind. The gift was to share the moon landings with the entire Earth.

Since the distribution of the 270 "Goodwill moon rocks" in 1970's, 160 out the original 270 moon rocks are missing, lost, destroyed or stolen. An additional 517 moon rocks are missing from research labs around the world.

This documentary tells the journey of these pieces of another world, their scientific importance, their value to humankind and what is being done to find them.

How does rock get destroyed?
Robert PearlmanIreland's Apollo 11 lunar sample display, for example, was caught up in a fire and then discarded in a landfill more than 30 years ago. Baked and then buried, it may physically still exist, but likely not in a form that would be recognized if found.
Robert Pearlman"Missing Moon Rocks" was screened last week at the 2014 Orlando Film Festival, where it was a nominee for Best Short Documentary.

The film now has it own Facebook page.
